Ananse
the spider, trickster of Ashanti folklore, witnesses the early
day when animals and life are new. Sharing comical adventures
with Tjapa, the turtle, and dozens of other characters, he leaves
his mischievous mark on life, "as the story goes."
Drawing inspiration from the music, masks, costumes, carvings
and oral traditions, this musical production vividly illustrates
the vibrant splendor and magic of West African art and folklore.
The fibre of this experience is the ancestor of African American
stories and traditions that have become woven into our American
tapestry.
